Beauty and the Beast Live

From the upbeat opening number “Belle” to the rollicking “Gaston” and beyond, the orchestra will progress through the movie’s Oscar-winning score. While the music fills the hall, the original Beauty and the Beast will play on the room’s big screen, and you can experience the Disney classic like never before. Powell Hall is the perfect venue for the performance, with excellent acoustics and an elegant atmosphere.

Hear the Celebrated Score

The original film score for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast was an instant hit when the movie premiered in 1991. Audiences were charmed by the grand scale of “Be Our Guest,” and the unforgettable ballad “Beauty and the Beast.” The stunning 3D ballroom setting panning around traditionally animated characters was groundbreaking, and it helped draw viewers into the world of Belle and the Beast as they begin to fall in love. Among its accolades, the movie’s theme song won a Golden Globe Award and the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Critics hailed the soundtrack, especially the theme, as an extraordinary success by writers Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, and the music was considered perfect for Broadway. Inevitably, the story and music were adapted into a Broadway show just two years after the film’s release.
